TOUCHED BY THE STORY OF A RECOVERING ALCOHOLIC.

I took my remote control this morning and on my normal surfing I stopped at Kass Tv when I saw a beautiful lady probably in her early 30s speak to a crowd that looked seemingly attentive.
My Curiosity kept me a little more locked to the channel as I was listening to her heart touching story. At first I didn't know her name and therefore I was anxious to know her, minute after minute the lady narrated her story, she started by saying she is a drug addict on her way to recovery and that to me didn't look real as the groomed and fluently speaking lady spoke.

I was wondering how such a beautiful and "Educated " lady would stoop that low to allow alcohol and drugs ruin her life . That was when she mentioned that she is a recovering alcoholic, what I didn't know is her history of alcohol and what alcohol and drugs did to her.

The lady narrated her live in the drink telling the audience that she started drinking at the age of 12,that to me was not practical especially in the place where I was born and bread. That alone made me become more keen.

"I was in Moi Girls High school Eldoret when I was in form two that I was served with my first suspension "The lady told the attentive crowd.

" suspensions are meant to correct the mistake and help the suspended get to his or her senses but mine gave me the opportunity to drink more and more alcohol " The lady continued.

At this moment my remote control was on the couch and all eyes and ears on the Television.

"My second suspension came in form four and being the second I was expelled from the school but my Dad took me to another school " she continued.

Of course at that moment I was getting more and more interested with her story until this point she told the audience of her life in the states that made me increase the volume of my small Tv.
"My Dad sent me abroad for studies and while in America I continued my alcohol life,I would drink myself to hell and that Is when addiction got the better part of me,alcohol was part of my life"Narrated the lady who by then had the crowd by her side.

I was shocked by what she had to do to satisfy her thirst which included nasty things she couldn't tell the crowd, what shocked me more is that she had not attended a single class the main reason she was in the states .She told the audience that she got married twice in order to get money for her Alcohol.

"My second marriage was to a drug baron who introduced me to cocaine and that is how I got into drugs " said the lady.

I wished at that moment to have known the lady and by her mentioning about her deportation that never happened because of her influential family friend I knew the lady was not from an ordinary family.

"After my Dad learned that I was found after disappearing for some months he boarded a plane and within no time he was in the states " she narrated.

She told the crowd that instead of her being deported back to Kenya her family friend at the Kenyan Embassy in the US and her Dad decided to send her for rehab.

Rehab seem to have helped her until her Dad passed away, when she flew to Kenya and after she laid her Dad to rest her Alcoholic problem resurfaced.

"I went to Rehab and worked hard for my Dad whom after I have messed you still could love me" said the lady.

"It is good that we do things for our own that for others " she stressed as she explained why after the Death of her Dad she went back to alcohol.

The good lady had succeeded to capture my attention, my heart was so touched that I could only remember a Biblical verse that says God's Grace is sufficient, what was evident is truly God's Grace,Grace that is so abundant to sustained a wretched man or woman to the day of his/her salvation.
As she told the crowd that after his Bro died from an accident caused by alcohol she decided to seek help and that is how she ended up at the Eldoret based rehab where she recovered and later turned to Jesus where she got saved.

The lady has a lot that can help our slowly dying youth and especially those who have made alcohol and drugs their heroes. If only one learns early the consequences alcohol and drugs would bring to their lives then dropping the habit before addiction would be the best. In fact the Best is giving their lives to Jesus and living a life that is pleasing to God.

At last I came to know the lady and her family and at any point I would recommend institutions and individuals having a problem within alcohol and Drugs to invite and talk with her , Let her advice our youth because there is a lot we don't know that we need to know.

Alcohol Addiction and drug abuse is a disease that affects our self esteem.. that is what I learned today.
